Report anatomy

We read your credit report line by line.

The app flags tradeline patterns that may be inaccurate, incomplete, or duplicated — before you dispute. Your credit report drives what applies; results vary.

Tradeline · Revolving

Late payments

Status: 30 days late · Reported 03/2024

Dates, status codes, and reporting consistency across bureaus can matter — a single late mark may not tell the full story when records disagree.

May be updated when inaccurate, unverifiable, or duplicated.

Collection · Medical

Collections

Balance: $1,240 · Opened 11/2023

Ownership, open dates, balance, and whether a validation trail exists can all be worth a closer look before you accept a tradeline as correct.

May be disputed when ownership, dates, or balance cannot be verified.

Charge-off · Installment

Charge-offs

Status: Charged off · DOFD 08/2022

Status, date of first delinquency, and whether a separate collection line also appears can create duplicate-looking pressure on your credit report.

May be updated or removed when inaccurate, duplicated, or legally deficient.

Hard inquiry

Inquiries

Creditor: Example Bank · 01/2025

Hard pulls should reflect authorization and permissible purpose — an inquiry you do not recognize may be worth documenting before it ages off.

May be challenged when unauthorized or lacking permissible purpose.

Duplicate signal

Duplicates & re-aging

Same creditor · two collection lines

The same debt should not become a moving target — duplicate tradelines or dates that appear to reset can distort what lenders see.

May be disputed when duplicated, re-aged without basis, or questionable.

Identity / balance

Balance & identity mismatches

Name variant · balance mismatch

Mixed files, wrong middle initials, or balances that do not match your records can signal a merge error or outdated furnisher data.

May be corrected when inaccurate, mixed with another consumer, or unverifiable.

Pull your report into the portal to see which lines may warrant a closer look — a starting point, not a verdict.

Inside the investigation

Why “valid” often means “automated.”

“Valid” may mean automated — or correct. The work is matching the path to the evidence; the app tracks your letters and deadlines.

Educational only — not legal advice. Outcomes depend on your disputes and bureau responses.

Path A · automated

Rubber-stamp loop

Dispute in, e-OSCAR ping, quick “verified” — many stop. Investigation can be shallow.

Bureaus ping the furnisher; a quick “yes, ours” may get labeled verified with limited review.

Many see “verified” and stop. The bureau may close without deeper documentation review.

Path B · evidence review

NewLeaf review path

We review creditor patterns and documentation quality, then match escalation or settlement to the facts.

NewLeaf may review creditor reporting patterns and which furnishers investigate versus rubber-stamp.

When evidence supports it, escalation may fit. When debt is verified, settlement can be the better route.

When debt is real

When settlement may fit

When debt holds up under review, a negotiated settled amount — not full balance plus interest — may reduce pressure for qualified consumers.

Example payment path — not guaranteed savings or approval.

The work is knowing which path the evidence supports — escalate when appropriate, settle when economics may fit. Individual results vary.

How we’re structured · plain English

Clear about what NewLeaf is — and isn’t.

  • FinTech SaaS

NewLeaf is a financial technology company. Subscription covers software to read your credit report, track disputes, log creditor communications, and learn your rights — plus live guidance 24/7.

  • Settlements

NewLeaf is not a debt settlement company and does not settle debts as your settlement provider. You can negotiate with creditors through the app when that path fits. Larger cases may be referred to independent partners — partners may charge their own fees. NewLeaf does not collect a fee based on the amount of debt settled or the amount saved.

  • Banking

NewLeaf is not a bank and does not take deposits. Any financing or banking services, when available, come from separate partners under their own terms.

  • $100 satisfaction

Paid programs include a $100 satisfaction guarantee / refund under the enrollment window in your Service Agreement. It does not promise score changes, deletions, or settlements.

Support · 24/7 channels

One call, one text, one email, or one click — support channels are available around the clock for billing questions and account help.

Ready when you are.
